Leather and Steel Large Fighting War Fan

Soft black leather combined with steel staves make for a beautiful and functional fan. 

Twelve 1/2" wide staves attached to sturdy but thin black cowhide and fastened with a durable Chicago screw.End staves are heavy stainless steel. Lighter weight chromed internal spokes for a bit of dazzle. 

The fan does 'snap', just not as loudly as a nylon fabric fan. Leather fans do not close with a flick of the wrist. They must be manually closed by hand (although some users have had great success in flick closure after a bit of use)

The standard is for a right handed person (opens with full grain leather side facing the body and then turn the wrist for the full grain side to the front.) When someone is using two fans at once they usually want one right handed and one left handed.

NOTE: This is not an actual tessen....more of a gunsen or sensu. The outer staves are not iron and the thinner inner staves are not as durable as those in actual fighting fans. In addition, since the leather it thicker than traditional lacquered paper or silk, this fan does not close as easily as a tessen.
